Dodgers reliever Brusdar Graterol announced that he underwent surgery on his right shoulder. The reliever was dealing with injuries throughout the season, although he was able to end up pitching in the World Series.
The Venezuelan pitcher, who has two World Series with the Dodgers (2020 and 2024), will miss at least the first half of the 2025 season with the team.
“Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Brusdar Graterol underwent shoulder labral surgery on November 14 with Dr. Neal ElAttrache. His return to the mound is expected in the second round of the 2025 regular season,” the team reported.
Brusdar Graterol dealt with multiple injuries in 2024
Graterol with a 2.45 ERA and 7 strikeouts in 7 appearances in 2024. Since the beginning of the season he had hip problems and upon his return he had a muscle tear.
He was able to arrive right at the end of the season to pitch in the postseason. Graterol with a 3.86 ERA and one strikeout in 3 appearances in the 2024 postseason.
The Venezuelan was part of the Dodgers’ plan A in the postseason along with Blake Treinen, Alex Vesia and Michael Kopech to ensure victories for Dave Roberts’ team.
“Yesterday I had my shoulder operation, thanks to God and Dr Elattrache everything went well. This year 2024 was quite frustrating for me, dealing with that pain was not easy, and I made the best decision to have surgery,” the player reported on social networks.
Graterol is eligible for his second year of arbitration in 2025 and will become a free agent in 2027. The 26-year-old reliever earned $2.7 million in 2024.
“I never gave up, because I am a warrior of God, my mother did not bring just anyone into this world, she knows and he who knows knows,” said the Venezuelan pitcher.
