Sabrina Larpin, 26 years old and an entrepreneur for five years.
“What I like most about being an entrepreneur is being able to transmit everything I learned from a great teacher like my mother. It is a way to keep it present, because through sewing I feel that we connect.”. Sabrina Larpin He found the way to go through a duel through entrepreneurship, which today is his way of life.
This young woman who lives in the capital of Neuquén began entrepreneurship, venturing into the world of sewing, months after her mother died, in 2019. “I started entrepreneurship because of her, I liked seeing her enjoy what she did so much, she inspired me and continues to inspire me. It was not out of economic necessity, I feel that I began that path as a process to go through grief. “I would never have thought about it, but there I found our place of connection.”.
Although from the beginning he dedicated himself to the textile industry, his venture mutated until it reached what it is today.
“I started making hair bows, the famous ‘scrunchies’, and then I got rid of the fear of doing other types of production and began to learn more about women’s clothing by making tops, dresses, and clothes for going out. Afterwards I offered a seam repair service, I continued with custom sewing work, until I reached what I currently do today, which is teaching workshops.”reports.
It currently offers its workshops to the general public of all ages, to those who are interested in knowing a little more, learning from scratch or improving themselves.
Through the Financial Inclusion for Youth line of the Neuquén Financia program, promoted by the provincial government, she managed to obtain a loan to buy machinery and recondition the sewing workshop, equipping it to improve practices.
The road is not always easy; She explains that she had some difficulties being an entrepreneur. “One of the main problems was valuing my product, feeling confident with what I was doing, it was very difficult for me to value my work. I was thinking about whether my product was going to be accepted or not by people, one always feels uncertainty because one’s economic livelihood depends on it.”.
And adds that “Starting a business always gave me a lot of freedom in my life in general, but also, and especially at the beginning, it caused me concern until I was able to understand the circuit, I trained in financial education and added tools to constantly improve”.
Another issue is also finding points of sale. Sabrina has participated in previous years in entrepreneur fairs promoted by the Province and last October in “Juventudes que Emprenden”, organized by the Undersecretary of Youth of the Ministry of Human Development, Local Governments and Women.
“It is not easy to start a business, in my case I feel privileged to have parents who always encouraged entrepreneurship. In some way I feel that they transmitted it to me and supported me a lot, that is very important”highlights.
