There are complicated months behind Maximilian Beier. The summer signing from Borussia Dortmund makes no secret of this.

Dortmund – On the Soaring high at 1899 Hoffenheim including participation in the home European Championship followed Maximilian Beier’s move to Borussia Dortmund first headwind.

Beier was only second choice in Dortmund

The offensive player was signed by BVB for a little less than 30 million euros and closed the gap that Niclas Füllkrug left with his transfer to West Ham United. However, Beier, who scored 16 Bundesliga goals for TSG last season, is behind Serhou Guirassy and therefore regularly moves to the right wing.

To date, Beier has accumulated 681 minutes of action in 14 competitive appearances for BVB. In the 2-1 win against RB Leipzig on November 2nd, he contributed his first goal contributions with a goal and an assist. That was balm for the soul, because the start in Dortmund was complicated.

Beier looks back on a difficult start for BVB

“In Dortmund I first had to get used to it. I had to find a new apartment, settle in – it wasn’t all that easy,” says Beier in an article posted on the German Football Association’s website (DFB) published interview looks back over the past few months.

Of all people, the national team helped Beier get on track. Appointed in September Julian Nagelsmann The 22-year-old made his way into the DFB team and played 57 minutes against Hungary and the Netherlands. Beier will play for the U21 national team in both October and November, which offers a greater chance of match practice.

“Since I didn’t play much at the club in the first few weeks, it was beneficial for me to get my minutes in the U21s. At my still quite young age, playing time is what matters,” says Beier. Since Nagelsmann took office, professionals and young talent have worked closely together, which is why Karim Adeyemi was transferred to the U21 team before his injury.

Beier liked English Weeks: “Personally, I think it’s great”

Beier and Adeyemi are aiming to return to the senior national team in the medium term. First, however, we have to overcome the challenges with Borussia Dortmund.

In the Bundesliga, BVB ranks seventh and is noticeably weak away from home. The injury concerns are also troubling the club. The many English weeks demand a lot from the players, but Beier doesn’t mind the strain much.

“Personally, I think it’s great. I’d rather play than train, my young legs can take it,” says the youngster with a wink and emphasizes: “It’s sometimes tiring to have an away game in the Bundesliga and immediately afterwards away again in the Bundesliga Champions League to play, but that’s part of it.” And if the team rewards itself more often soon, playing football will become easier again despite the stress.
