This Friday the 31st edition of the binational games ended, after five days of sporting activities.
On the last day of the Games, which took place in the sub-venues of Coyhaique, Puerto Aysén and Punta Arenas, the Minister of Sports, María Eugenia Durán, made a positive assessment of the sporting event and also referred to the sports legacy in infrastructure that leaves this contest in the Aysén Region.
Durán pointed out that there was more than a year of preparation by the region’s IND, organizing these games as a team with different State services through the Honor Committee, led by the Presidential Delegation: “This way of working allowed us to be the better hosts, surpassing us as an organization compared to previous versions.
“We are very happy because the objective was achieved, both in the sub-venues and in the sporting display that has existed, the athletes felt at home, accompanied by the public that came to see them, and as a plus, we managed to publicize the attractions of our region to visitors,” added the Seremi.
Likewise, the sports authority highlighted the legacy of 15 sports venues where the competitions were held.
“It will serve not only to prepare the athletes who travel to Tierra del Fuego next year for the 32nd edition of the Games, but also to be used in the stages of the School Sports Games and by the sports communities.” In general, what as the Ministry of Sports together with IND we have considered as the next challenge,” he expressed.
“The success of this mega sporting event shows that our region can continue to advance and has the conditions to host major sporting events,” concluded the Seremi del Deporte.
A similar evaluation was made by Carlos Aranda, President Juegos Araucanía: “Expectations were met thanks to the very good organization of the people of Aysén that allowed the national and Argentine delegations to have a week focused on sporting and not extra-sporting aspects.”
“I also want to thank the support provided by the Regional Government of Aysén so that these binationals had a successful edition and all the authorities who were committed to every detail for the well-being of athletes, technicians and multidisciplinary teams that came to this beautiful region” , he added.
Likewise, Javier Medina Mella, regional director of the IND National Sports Institute, stated: “We can point out that these games have been impeccable, they were months of preparation with important work by the IND regional team and that had the financial support of Gore.”
“Also highlighting the support of the municipalities that hosted the venues and the educational establishments and sports venues that allowed us to occupy their facilities, there really was a total commitment from the Region with the development of the competition and a complete willingness to be the best hosts”, he closed.
