The footballers from Berlin’s FC Dynamo celebrated a landslide win against Delay Sports. The traditional club thus prevailed against the team that was founded by influencers just a few years ago.
12:0 – the result on the scoreboard at the end of the Berlin State Cup game between BFC Dynamo and Delay Sports is clear. With the double-digit clean sheet victory, the long-established capital city club prevailed against the club that has only existed for three years – but which should still be well known to young Berlin football fans.
A lot had been said and written about the unequal duel in the run-up to the game. Here is the BFC Dynamo, a fourth division team with a long tradition and eventful history as a so-called Stasi club in the GDR as well as a training ground for future Bundesliga professionals and all-German national players such as Andreas Thom and Thomas Doll. There Delay Sports, ninth division team, founded by social media star Elias Nerlich and with a good 550,000 followers on Instagram alone.
Nevertheless, they take the sport so seriously at Delay that the assistant coach, who is experienced in professional football, was really angry when he saw the twelve goals conceded against the BFC: “They gave us seven cherries. And there could have been a lot more because they did like men play,” said Kevin Pannewitz, who was under contract with VfL Wolfsburg and Hansa Rostock during his active career, after the final whistle. That probably means: We didn’t oppose it.
The fact that Delay had no sporting chance against Dynamo was one thing this Saturday. On the other hand, the duel was the biggest game in the influencer club’s history to date. 4,500 spectators came to the sold-out Sportforum Hohenschönhausen. Delay waived his home rights due to safety concerns. Nevertheless, the kick-off was delayed due to the large number of spectators.
They then saw the clear defeat of the district league team Delay on the pitch, in which Frederik Mittelstädt, the brother of national player Maximilian Mittelstädt, was in goal. Ex-professional, influencer and Delay co-founder Sidney Friede also played from the start. But even this duo had nothing to oppose the BFC Dynamo.
