Juan Soto He remains the most sought after player in free agency. It is logical, the Dominican is coming off an extraordinary campaign with the New York Yankees, he is a candidate for the American League MVP and now he is on the verge of signing one of the biggest agreements in history.
The Dominican player is having meetings with several organizations and the Mets and the Yankees are said to be the favorites to obtain his services.
In addition, there is talk that he could sign a record deal of more than $600 million dollars and there is even optimism that he will surpass the $700 million barrier.
In recent days, the Toronto Blue Jays emerged as a real contender to keep the most sought-after figure of the MLB offseason, Juan Soto.
In the specific case of the Canadian franchise, it would be a decisive addition to take the next step and become a favorite for the title, since they currently have other stars in their ranks such as Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette.
But the war will be tough against the rest of the franchises that are in the bidding, because, to begin with, they belong to much larger and more attractive markets for Soto and his brand, mainly the New York teams. Blue Jays bet on Juan Soto
According to an analysis by former player Eric Katz for Foul Territory, he spoke of the seriousness that the Blue Jays have shown in the negotiation and in the offer for Soto:

This time maybe they are opening the same drawstrings on the bag,” Katz explained, adding, “We can use this silver bullet.”
However, the Blue Jays would need much more than a figure to compete at the top, after finishing in last place in the American League East in 204 and with important holes in the roster, mainly in the infield and the bullpen.
For this reason, some fans prefer that such an amount of money be used to fill the gaps, before thinking about a media figure.
Other reports indicate that the Toronto ownership group approved a staggering amount of up to $700 million for Soto. However, they know the risk of not having money for other roster improvements, which is why these types of contracts are more of an exception than a rule.
The issue with Soto is that his impact can be immediate on the squadafter in his only season with the Yankees he hit 41 home runs (the most in his career) with 109 RBIs last season and was instrumental in helping the Yankees reach the World Series.
