After his defeat in his boxing comeback, Mike Tyson revealed serious health problems in preparation. “I almost died in June,” wrote the 58-year-old former world champion on the Internet platform X. “I had eight blood transfusions. I lost half of my blood and 25 pounds (about 11 kilograms) in the hospital. I had to fight to get healthy for the fight, so I won.” He did not provide further medical details.
The former heavyweight dominator lost unanimously on points to internet star Jake Paul on Friday. Some fans and observers saw it as an embarrassment for Tyson, who had little chance against his opponent, who was 31 years his junior. “This is one of those moments where you lose but you still win,” Tyson wrote. He is grateful for the evening and does not regret getting into the ring “one last time”.
In the first officially rated boxing match since 2005, Tyson started well and aggressively – but then clearly lost control to his much younger opponent. Tyson’s defensive work was good, but he didn’t attempt his own attacks in the remaining two-minute rounds. In the final seconds both stopped the fight, Paul bowed to Tyson.

It was not a normal experience “that my children saw me on equal terms with a talented fighter half my age for eight rounds in a sold-out Dallas Cowboys Stadium,” added Tyson and thanked him for that.
“Mike is a legend, he is the greatest. This man is an icon and it is an honor to fight against him,” commented Paul on the spectacle, which was staged as a mega-event. “More than 120 million people on Netflix, we took the site down,” he cheered. In fact, numerous users posted their anger about connection and transmission problems on the Internet even before the main fight began.
