More than a dozen children and youth facilities, institutions and groups took part in this year’s prevention week, which took place in Kirchhellen and Grafenwald. The offer was aimed at all children and young people as well as their parents and legal guardians. On different days, the respective participants were able to devote themselves to exciting topics relating to children’s rights, mindfulness and self-awareness.
Finally, the project results were presented in the f! presented. The ev. KiTa Kirchhellen, for example, has dealt with recycling and the use of resources. The daycare center on Horsthofstrasse discovered the forest with the children. Especially these days they are exposed to sensory overload and can learn to find peace in the forest. Here they use all their senses and increase their environmental awareness.
At the Montessorihaus at Tappenhof the theme was “peace”. What does peace mean? The little ones’ answers were astonishing: “Peace is when you have your friends.” “Peace is being happy.” “Peace is talking to each other.” They also learned that everyone has their rough edges, that sometimes you have each other argues and of course makes up again afterwards.
“We had an incredibly great atmosphere at the presentation,” says co-organizer and street worker Silke Margowski. This was only possible thanks to everyone involved, the planning team and the f!, which provided the rooms for the final event.
