The Sport Social Club of the city of Villa María hosted the National Veterans Tennis Championship where the Río Cuarto Tennis Veterans Association had participation.
Some of the categories that competed finished in fourth position, hoping to qualify for the South American competition that will be held in Mar del Plata next year. If there is any loss among the first three places, the quota will be opened.
Nancy Ramapart of the delegation and also a competitor, spoke in The Center you need by Al Toque Radio about what the Nacional was: “The headquarters was Córdoba and they organized it in Villa María, because it has the Sport Social Club, which is a club with an excellent organization. This year Río Cuarto’s performance was not as good as in previous years. In no category did we finish third to go to the South American. We are playing that they will not be able to travel or that some of the first three will not go.”
Rama, press officer for the Association, also played on this occasion: “I loved it. I’m playing with my longtime partner, but I wasn’t able to travel to Nationals for many years. Last year I traveled to Neuquén. We came out tenth in the 17-team category, not that bad. In the +65 there were teammates who had never traveled to a National, girls who played from a very young age, and they loved the experience of competing at that level.”
Beyond sports, the social gathering is another highlight of these events: “It is the best thing that can happen to us beyond performance. You finish the game, you meet the opponents, you chat, you have dinner, you go out together. We have known each other for many years. It is a very pleasant experience,” commented Rama.
In 2025, the Río Cuarto Tennis Veterans Association will celebrate 40 years of existence and will once again host the national competition: “President Susana Panella had a meeting with the Córdoba Sports Agency and they provided support for it to be held here. We turn 40 years old, it will be the fifth time we organize it. It’s going to be a super organization, we will start working in February because being in the center of the country, around 700 women come from all over.. All the clubs have to be prepared for this event and it gives life to the city. Celebrating 40 years in Río Cuarto will be spectacular”Rama expressed.
Finally, Rama made an analysis of the development of the Association in these 40 years and advanced some activities for next year: “It is a very good balance. We have evolved a lot in 40 years. Many members have joined, all those who went through management have done a great job. There will be a clinic with a teacher from Rosario in March and from there we will see the monthly events that we will have to arrive at the end of September, first days of October, with everything ready.”
