Fortitudo 2025 is starting to take shape. At least from the point of view of the technical staff. The last name, at least temporally speaking, is that of Juan Carlos Infante. The former Fortitudo player – last appearance with L’Aquila colors in 2016 – will be one of the Fortitudo coaches. At the head of everything, as manager, will be Fabio Betto, who will also have to find a new pitching coach, a role he held until a few months ago. Former manager Daniele Frignani will replace Christian Mura as sporting director.
If Fabio and Lele are two names who wrote Fortitudo pages until a few months ago, Juan Carlos is the new face (at least from the point of view of the technical staff). Venezuelan from Caracas, born in 1981, Infante was a great protagonist of the successes of Fortitudo and also of the national team. Jersey number 6 (when he played), hot temperament, effective at bat and in a very delicate role, that of shortstop.
Eight seasons with Fortitudo, more than seventy matches with the national team, Infante won two European Championships with Italy with the addition of a participation in the Classic.
In Fortitudo, however, three championships, four Italian Cups and three Champions Cups in over 400 official matches. And if in the first seven seasons he played as a shortstop in the last one, in Fortitudo, he defended the third base cushion.
In Italy he started in Anzio, then, after Fortitudo, a season in Rimini (still the championship), Castenaso and Modena, always alongside Marco Nanni, another of the Fortitudo icons.
After hanging up his glove in 2022, he began working for San Lazzaro Baseball. Because in the meantime, despite being originally from Venezuela, Juan Carlos has made his home in these parts. And Fortitudo’s call made him particularly happy.
“I am happy and proud for this opportunity, I want to thank Lele, Fabio and the whole club for bringing me back to Fortitudo and for the trust shown in me”.
Closing with the Fibs elections: the new federal president will be Marco Mazzieri (formerly Calze Verdi Casalecchio and Fortitudo) who, in his team, has Pierluigi Bissa, president of UnipolSai. It is possible that Bissa himself will end up covering the role of federal vice president.
