Evanders Holyfield’s son Elijah, who used to play in the NFL, now wants to become a show fighter. Among the new WWE is another name with a famous pedigree.

Elijah Holyfield, son of former heavyweight world champion Evander Holyfield, has signed a contract with WWE to become a wrestler. He is part of the newly revealed class of young wrestlers on Friday who have started training at the Performance Center in Orlando and will soon be seen on the NXT development squad. Wrestling is not the 26-year-old Holyfield’s first sporting activity: He was a running back at the University of Georgia and was under contract with three NFL teams between 2019 and 2022 and played two games for the Philadelphia Eagles. After a knee injury he gave up his NFL hopes, but now his new career plans have been revealed.
If Holyfield has the necessary talent, WWE would be only too happy to adorn itself with the legendary scion. Papa Holyfield already has a connection to the show fight empire: In 2007 he fought a staged boxing match there against Matt Hardy.
Next part of the “Bloodline” goes to WWE
Holyfield isn’t the only WWE signing with a prominent pedigree: Also part of the new class is Lance Anoa’i, another member of the extensive “Bloodline,” the Samoan wrestling family that also includes Roman Reigns, the Usos, Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu – as well as the late legends Yokozuna, Umaga, Afa and Sika.
Lance Anoa’i, who has been active in the industry for several years, is a grandson of Reigns’ uncle Afa and son of Headshrinker Samu, the former partner of Headshrinker Fatu, who later became Rikishi.
