A 58-year-old man was arrested in the Buenos Aires town of Quilmes accused of alleged possession of material and weapons linked to the Nazi regime. The investigation was carried out by the Special Prosecutor’s Unit for Organized Crime (UFECO), but it originated thanks to the work of agents of the Federal Police of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Bosnian authorities identified the suspect while investigating a gang dedicated to arms trafficking to Australia, Mexico, the United States and Greece.
During the operation, members of the Anti-Mafia Department seized 43 rifles stamped with a Nazi eagle, 15 pistols, five bayonets, a crossbow, a 9mm machine gun with Nazi symbols, two loading machines, 3,000 primers, 3.5 kilograms of gunpowder, 3,000 bullets. and 2,500 pods of different calibers. Also found were a World War II uniform with Nazi symbols, busts of Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini, three stuffed heads of Indian antelopes (Antelope cervicapra) in violation of the Environmental Protection Law, and two cell phones.
The operation included the participation of personnel from the Holocaust Museum, who verified the authenticity of the objects with Nazi symbols, in violation of Law 23,592. In addition, the Department of Environmental Crimes certified the illegality of the antelope heads, while the Department of Weapons and Explosives and the National Agency for Controlled Materials (ANMAC) analyzed the confiscated arsenal.
