Scott Robertson and New Zealand captain Scott Barrett looked back on the immense battle fought against the Blues on Saturday evening at the Stade de France.
Scott Robertson, New Zealand coachafter the defeat, 30-29, against the XV of France: “I am proud of what our players did. We played very good rugby, we put the French under pressure but unfortunately, we were not able to take advantage of all the opportunities presented to us. France was very strong in defense and realistic on counterattacks. On this subject, Louis Bielle-Biarrey is incredibly fast right? (…) We wanted to keep the ball as much as possible and generate fatigue among the French. Maybe we should have kicked a little more, I don’t know… In this meeting, we simply didn’t make our highlights enough.”
Scott Barrett, capitaine des All Blacks : “The atmosphere was incredible at the Stade de France. And above all, when the French players gain momentum and move forward, the crowd is really behind them. That’s what I felt at times. And, at home, when they gain momentum, they are a very difficult team to stop. We had our moments and our chances to win this game, which I think is the good side of things, but we weren’t good enough. It was a great match. Congratulations to France.”
