Yurij Rodionov lost the final of the ATP100 Challenger tournament in Kobe.
The 25-year-old from Lower Austria lost in the final on Sunday to the Belgian Alexander Blockx 3:6, 1:6 in just under 57 minutes.
When his opponent serves, the ÖTV ace doesn’t have a chance. The left-hander only got his only break points in the second set when the score was 0:4 or 1:5. Both are not used, so Blockx uses its first match point after less than an hour.
Despite the bankruptcy, Rodionov can look forward to a jump in the ATP rankings. It moves up 20 places to 177th.
The Austrian will continue to be in Japan as he takes part in the Challenger in Yokohama next week.
