“It’s an exceptional reaction since it’s the first time that the club will go to the eighth round,” greets the president of the Beaumont Saint-Cyr club (R2) in Vienne, Jean-Yves Kaes “Frankly, the victory is deserved over the entire match and therefore over the entire group which was with a lot of negation, sympathy and desire, to achieve this 1-0 victory”. This victory against the Mérignac club Arlac, although a resident of R1, opens the doors to the 8th finals of the French Cup for the Vienne club. “I am very proud of our colors, very proud of the club and very proud of this victory” assures Jean-Yves Kaes.
The joy is shared by the players and the coach, Teddy Delineau. “I think it’s a deserved qualification. They really played a great match and they really managed to thwart Arlac’s game” explains the coach, “I knew that they were going to want to have possession and especially to carry doublings in the corridors and we managed to block them. So there were two or three dangerous situations in the center, but in the end, we managed to score very quickly. We didn’t panic until the end and we defended with a lot of heart. I think that corresponds greatly to the values of the club and the club that welcomed us.
The match was played in a stadium larger than that of Beaumont Saint-Cyr, in Chauvigny in Vienne. “We were able to have an audience that supported us in high spirits, with very good joint organization with the Chauvigny club,” testifies the president of the victorious club, “I particularly thank the Chauvigny club, the leaders and the general organization which was perfect”.
The Poitevins’ next opponent will once again be a Gironde club, Sport Athlétique Mérignacais, which plays in R1.
