Alex Ovechkin is a formidable scorer. THE Tsar is also getting closer and closer to The Wonder Wayne Gretzky, finding himself just 30 goals away from equaling the latter’s 894 successes. Number 8 is also a guy who loves to have fun and drink soft drinks on the bench during duels. But Ovechkin is much more than that as a human being.
His former teammate, with whom he lifted the prestigious Stanley Cup in 2018, Alex Chiasson, told a lot of great material about the captain of the Washington Capitals:
“I remember, we were playing in Edmonton and it must have been -30. He took us to a Czech restaurant where he went all the time. He saw a beggar and gave him his winter coat. I can give you plenty of examples like that. We were playing in Montreal and my father came with friends. Ovi took photos and brought a signed hockey. I mean, he doesn’t need to do that. He’s a superstar!” – Chiasson

According to Chiasson, Ovechkin spent his time giving him jerseys, bats and even gave him the baseball jersey that the Caps received when they were honored during a Washington Nationals game. THE cap of the Reds was aware that Chiasson was going to keep this jersey preciously.
I love this type of interview where we learn “human” things from a super-star who didn’t have to act this way, but who has this generosity from the outset. He does all these things for the right reasons and not to show off. Congratulations to him!
