Anthony Richardson leads Colts to 28-27 victory over Jets

Anthony Richardson scored his second rushing touchdown of the game with 46 seconds left in the game to lead the Indianapolis Colts to a 28-27 victory over the New York Jets on Sunday.

The Jets led 27-22 after Anders Carlson’s 35-yard field goal with 2:41 on the clock, but that’s when Richardson — who had been passed over in favor of Joe Flacco the last two games — led the Colts to the other end of the field.

He connected with Alec Pierce for 39 yards and Josh Downs ran 17 yards to bring the ball to the Jets 10 line. Three plays later, Richardson ran into the penalty zone for the game-changing touchdown.

Jonathan Taylor was stopped on the two-point conversion, giving the Jets one last chance to win, but Aaron Rodgers was the victim of two quarterback sacks from Kwity Paye and the Colts (5-6) ended a three-game losing streak.

Richardson, selected fourth overall in the last draft, probably had his best game in the NFL. The league’s second-youngest starting quarterback finished the game completing 20 of 30 passes for 272 yards and a touchdown to Downs. He added 32 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Rodgers finished the game completing 22 of 29 passes for 184 yards and two touchdowns. Breece Hall added a major on the ground, but the Jets (3-8) lost for the seventh time in their last eight outings.
