An AS Monaco football player attacked and robbed in Corbeil-Essonnes

He will no doubt remember his outing in Essonne for a long time. Georges Ilenikhena, AS Monaco striker, was the victim of a violent robbery in Corbeil-Essonnes (Essonne) in the TarterĂȘts district this weekend, we learned from a police source.

The 18-year-old young man was driving his vehicle, alongside a friend, when he was attacked on rue Gustave-Eiffel. The duo had just left a birthday party organized in a nearby room, according to the first information brought to our attention.

Threatened by armed men

Returning to the vehicle of the first named, Georges Ilenikhena and his friend saw a group of at least four people disembark, all hooded, and some equipped with handguns, according to the victims’ accounts. The attackers then ordered the driver of the vehicle to hand over his pair of luxury shoes, his iPhone and the keys to his Volkswagen Golf. Under threats, the Monegasque attacker complied.

Except that when they were fleeing, the four perpetrators crashed the stolen car… It was therefore on foot that the quartet ended up leaving the scene, leaving the vehicle and its owner behind. Georges Ilenikhena was not injured during this theft. The police intervened immediately to carry out the usual findings. A complaint was filed by the footballer the next day at the Corbeil police station. The perpetrators of the theft were still being sought this Monday morning.

An AS Monaco player since last summer, Georges Ilenikhena has played 11 matches in Ligue 1 since the start of the season. His name especially resonated on September 19 when he scored the winning goal against FC Barcelona (2-1). The Franco-Nigerian striker was born in Lagos (Nigeria) and grew up in Hauts-de-Seine, where he kept his ties.

Footballers are regularly the target of criminals, eager to get their hands on their personal belongings. But the players’ relatives can also be victims: this summer, the father of Frenchman Kingsley Coman was affected by a burglary in Seine-et-Marne.
