Nuova Pallacanestro Marsala (NPM) lost 94-78 from the away match against Dierre Reggio Calabria, despite a combative performance against one of the favorite teams in the Serie C championship. The guests started the match with determination, maintaining the balance in the first quarter thanks to Stankovic, Miculis and Tartamella. However, the home team, led by Angius, ended the period ahead 23-19.
Head held high
In the second quarter, Marsala started strong with an 8-0 run and reached a maximum advantage of +6 thanks to Gentile and Niang. However, the hosts responded with Fazzari and Railans, ending the first half leading 44-40. After the break, NPM regained the tie at 50-50 with Farruggia’s triples, but then lost effectiveness in their conclusions. The Calabrians took advantage and led 69-60 at the end of the third quarter. In the final period Marsala tries to react with Frisella, Tartamella and Farruggia (18 points), but the decisive triples from Ripepi and Angius push Dierre to success. Marsala, however, comes out with its head held high, showing progress against a top team. The Lilibetans will return to the field next Sunday (November 24), in the all-Sicilian match against Gela Basket.
