Brock Bowers is one of the NFL’s rising stars. In the game against Miami, the Las Vegas Raiders football player celebrates a touchdown with Donald Trump’s campaign dance. The deposit then causes excitement.
A Donald Trump-inspired celebration is becoming a trend in the National Football League (NFL). Some professionals celebrated successful actions at the weekend with dance moves that imitated the former and future US president. Trump performed the dance, to songs like “YMCA” by the Village People, at several events during the campaign.
Nick Bosa of the San Francisco 49ers, an avowed Trump supporter, moved his hips and hands like the Republican did when he recently danced to music in public. The so-called Trump Dance was also used after a touchdown by Brock Bowers of the Las Vegas Raiders – and then caused a stir.
After Bowers scored a touchdown in the third quarter of the game against the Miami Dolphins, the Raiders tight end did the Trump dance in the end zone. A few of his teammates joined in with Bowers’ political dance routine.
After the game, which Las Vegas lost 19-34, Bowers was asked about his celebration. “I’ve seen everyone do it,” Bowers said in response to a question from USA Today journalist Safid Deen. “I saw Jon Jones’ UFC fight last night and he did it too. I like watching UFC, so I saw it and thought it was cool.” Heavyweight champion Jones had previously won against Stipe Miocic in New York in front of Trump and some members of his planned cabinet.
Raiders end round of talks after Trump question
According to Deen, the Raiders’ PR team immediately ended the interview with Bowers after his comments about the Trump dance; Further questions on the topic were apparently not wanted. The transcript of Bowers’ interview sent to reporters by the Miami Dolphins also contained neither a question nor an answer, as US media reported. Broadcasting network CBS is also under fire because Bowers’ dance was apparently removed from the highlights that CBS shared on its platforms after the game. The obviously controversial insert could still be seen during the broadcast.
Bowers and Bosa are not the only NFL professionals who have celebrated in Trump style so far. Detroit Lions defensive end Za’Darius Smith and Tennessee Titans defensive end Calvin Ridley are also included.
The 21-year-old Bowers impressed with strong performances in his first season. The Raiders professional has 70 caught passes for 706 yards and three touchdowns. Nevertheless, the Las Vegas Raiders’ record is disappointing with two wins from ten games.
