Girls from the Bad Aibling judo team successful in Munich
The Bavaria Cup in Judo took place for the 26th time. The girls’ tournament in the U14 and U17 age groups was organized by the Munich district and hosted by MTV Munich.
This traditional tournament is a screening tournament of the Bavarian Judo Association, and the field of participants from all over the state was correspondingly high-caliber.
Six fighters from Bad Aibling also made their way to the Bavarian capital.
In addition to the siblings Fiona and Louisa Nowak, Nora Skrynecki, Luise Wachtel, Evelyn Petter and Mariia Planukova started.
Fiona Nowak was able to win all of her matches early through beautiful throwing techniques and thus secured first place and the longed-for “Bavaria Cup trophy”.
In the twin duel Fiona against Louisa Nowak, Fiona retained the upper hand. Louisa Nowak was able to hold her own against the other opponents with beautiful throwing techniques and holds, and she ultimately won the silver medal.
Evelyn Petter and Luise Wachtel were also able to play to their strengths. Both kept up very well in their weight classes and only had to give way to their opponent once each. Both were able to celebrate a bronze medal in the end.
After one win and two defeats, Nora Skrynecki achieved a good fifth place.
Mariia Plakunova lost both of her fights early. She also took fifth place.
After the U14 girls took second place in the team ranking thanks to their placements, although no fighters competed for the club in the U17 age group, the Aiblinger team still ended up with an excellent fourth place in the overall ranking of all participating clubs.
“The girls all fought well. Given the very strong competition, we achieved a very good result. Nevertheless, the girls have to stick with it,” said the supervisors and trainers Anamaria Budiu and Thomas Nowak.
All starters are also part of the “Powergirls” youth league team. The Bavaria Cup was a good indicator for the upcoming youth league final on November 10th, 2024 in Palling, which will determine the championship of the Upper Bavarian clubs. The “Powergirls” are starting here as both first in the table and as defending champions – and therefore favorites (a report will follow).
