Nadal says goodbye to tennis with the challenge of winning his sixth Davis Cup | The COUNTRY Express

The Davis Cup is being played from today until November 24 in Malaga. It will be the last tournament of Rafa Nadal’s professional career: the winner of 22 majors retires at the age of 38 with the aim of obtaining his last Davis Bowl (the sixth of his career).

The playoffs. Spain opens today at 5:00 p.m., with a first individual match against the Netherlands on the center court of the José María Martín Carpena Sports Palace (Málaga).

  • The Spaniard has not yet confirmed whether he will be the one to play this first match.

The goodbye of a symbol. Nadal retires 23 years after beginning his professional career in tennis, considered around the world as one of the most formidable competitors in the history of the sport. The injuries that he has had since 2022 caused him to break the news last October.

  • And he does it without thinking about his farewell: “I’m not here to retire, I’m here to help the team,” he said in an interview prior to the tournament.
