A fifth loss in a row for the Cowboys

Taking advantage of a three-touchdown performance from Joe Mixon, the Houston Texans inflicted a severe 34-10 defeat on the Cowboys on Monday night in Dallas.

This is a fifth loss in a row for the Cowboys (3-7), who are in free fall and who have still not enjoyed victory at home this season. The Texans (7-4), for their part, ended a short slide with two losses.

Mixon rushed for 109 yards in the victory. Texans quarterback CJ Stroud didn’t have a memorable night, going for 257 yards through the air, no touchdown passes, and throwing an interception.

His opposite number on the Cowboys, Cooper Rush, suffered the defeat in a second straight game in relief of starting quarterback Dak Prescott, sidelined by a hamstring injury. Rush was not bad completing 32 passes for 354 yards and a touchdown pass.

Author of the Cowboys’ only touchdown, KaVontae Turpin caught three passes for gains of 86 yards.

The game was notably marked by a touchdown scored by defensive end Derek Barnett, who picked up a fumbled ball twice in the fourth quarter before fleeing to the promised land.
