Beyoncé to perform at NFL Christmas halftime show

Beyoncé, thanks to Cowboy Carterleads the way this year with 11 nominations, distinguishing itself not only in the three main categories — Song, Recording and Album of the Year — but also in four different genres: country, pop, rap and Americana. Her 11 nominations also make Beyoncé the most nominated artist in Grammy history with a total of 99 nominations (she previously shared the record of 88, with her husband Jay-Z).

For his part, Kendrick Lamar is one of four artists to have accumulated seven nominations, alongside Billie Eilish, Charli XCX and Post Malone. Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan each received six nominations.

For Record of the Year, Texas Hold ‘Em of Beyoncé will compete against Espresso by Carpenter, Birds of a Feather d’Eilish, Not Like Us of Lamar, Fortnight by Swift and Post Malone, 360 of Charli, and Good Luck, Babe! from Roan. Not to mention the biggest surprise in this category: the last Beatles song, Now and Thenreleased last year.

Many of these same tracks will compete for Song of the Year, including Birds of a Feather, Fortnight, Texas Hold ‘Em, Not Like Us et Good Luck, Babe!. This category will also include Shaboozey’s hit, A Bar Song (Tipsy)the collaboration of Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars Die With a Smile and Carpenter’s other big success in 2024, Please Please Please.

For Album of the Year, André 3000 landed a surprising nomination with his instrumental flute disc New Blue Sun. He will compete against Cowboy Carter by Beyoncé, Short n’ Sweet by Carpenter, Brat by Charlie, Hit Me Hard and Soft d’Eilish, The Tortured Poets Department de Swift, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess of Roan and Djesse Vol. 4 by Jacob Collier.

Carpenter and Roan — the year’s biggest revelations — also lead the race for Best New Artist. They will face Shaboozey, Benson Boone, Doechii, Raye, Teddy Swims and Khruangbin.

Already, the big question surrounding the 2025 Grammys seems to be whether this year will be the one where Beyoncé — already the most awarded and now the most nominated artist in the ceremony’s history — finally wins one of the main categories for the first time since 2010, when Single Ladies won Song of the Year. But the competition is strong. Swift, of course, has won Album of the Year more often than any other artist (four times), and Eilish as well as André 3000 have also previously won in this category (André as a member of Outkast).

Eilish has also become a huge favorite among Academy voters since winning all four major awards in 2020. She has since added another trophy for Recording of the Year with Everything I Wanted in 2021, as well as an award for Song of the Year last year for What Was I Made For?. Eilish is also the first artist to have her first three albums nominated for Album of the Year.

For Charli XCX, her seven Grammy nominations this year are her first as a solo artist. Raye also became the first artist to simultaneously earn nominations for Best New Artist and Lyricist of the Year, Non-Classical, celebrating her work as a solo artist as well as with other artists including Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez , Halle and Lucky Daye.

There are also several notable debut nominations, including for Sierra Ferrell, Doechii, and Morgan Wallen, who has yet to be nominated as a solo artist, but earned two nominations for his hit with Post Malone, I Had Some Help. Several music legends also landed their first nominations, including famed producer Pete Rock, legendary singer Linda Martell and punk icon Kim Gordon. Among current indie artists, Waxahatchee, Clairo and Madi Diaz earned their first nominations, as did Puerto Rican rapper Young Miko, Mexican singer-songwriter Carín León and Colombian singer-songwriter Reid.

Here is the full list of nominees. The Grammys will take place on February 2, 2025 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
