A serious loss hit the world of martial arts yesterday, November 18th. The 71 year old Roman maestro Massimo Mattioli, loved and esteemed by all for the passion with which he followed the whole movement, has died. What killed him was a heart attack that gave him no escape. The victim was national manager of the judo, kurash and traditional Libertas wrestling department. On Monday 18 November he felt ill in Conselve in Piazza Donatori di Sangue. He had an appointment with Livio Boscaro, coach of Green Fit in Conselve. However, something didn’t work properly, Mattioli put his hands on his chest and collapsed.

The news

The maestro, who would have celebrated his 72nd birthday on November 21st, slept in a B&B in Conselve. He got up regularly and called his family who would soon return to Rome by train. The arrival in the capital was scheduled for 12. The first to help him was an employee of the Epta Nord analysis laboratory not far from where the accident occurred. A patrol of the Carabinieri from the Abano Company also arrived in Blood Donor Square for the ritual investigations, then the body was disposed of in the Schiavonia morgue.
