Announcement of the 75th National Intercollegiate Rugby Football Tournament Implementation Summary | Japan Rugby Football Association

The Japan Rugby Football Union (Chairman: Masato Tsuchida, Minato-ku, Tokyo) will be holding a tournament in Paloma, Aichi Prefecture on Sunday, December 29, 2024, Thursday, January 2, and Monday, January 6, 2025. We would like to inform you of the implementation outline of the “75th National Regional Collegiate Rugby Football Tournament” to be held at Mizuho North Athletics Stadium.

We will let you know as soon as the pairings and match schedule are decided. This tournament will be a free match.

75th National District Collegiate Rugby Football Tournament

Sponsor: Japan Rugby Football Union

Supervised by: Kansai Rugby Football Association, Aichi Prefecture Rugby Football Association

Dates: Sunday, December 29, 2024, Thursday, January 2, 2025, Monday, January 6, 2025

Venue: Paloma Mizuho Kita Athletics Stadium (3-68-1 Hagiyama-cho, Mizuho-ku, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture)

Tournament Summary: The purpose of this tournament is to develop and foster collegiate rugby, and it will be a national tournament in which representative teams or recommended teams from eight regions in Japan will participate.

Participating teams: Representative teams from the eight districts below and recommended teams.

Eligibility:

(1) About the team

① The team will be the representative team of the universities that are members of the Kanto, Kansai, and Kyushu Rugby Football Associations.

②Limited to teams that will not participate in the 61st National University Championships.

(2) About the players

① Team members must register as individual competitors through their team before the end of November.

② Participating athletes must be regular students or graduate students enrolled at the university. Research students, non-degree students, auditors, trainees, short-term international students including exchange students, etc. are not included in regular students.

③Among the players in the competition area, up to three foreign nationals will be allowed. However, there is no limit to the number of reserve players.

④ Anyone who violates the Japan Rugby Football Union player/officer regulations will not be eligible to participate.

(3) Others

If there is any doubt as to eligibility, the decision will be made by each regional association in Kanto, Kansai, and Kyushu.

Competitive methods:

(1) It will be held in a tournament format.

(2) If the team participating in the next game cannot be determined due to a tie, the following method will be used to determine the team that will participate in the next game.

a Team with the most tries

b. If the number of tries is the same, the team with the most goals after the try

c If the above cannot be determined, the decision will be made by lottery. *If there is a tie in the final, both teams will be declared winners.

Competition rules:

(1) It will be conducted in accordance with the 2024 World Rugby Competition Rules.

(2) The game time shall be 40 minute halves, and half time shall be within 12 minutes.
