The Soriana Association of the sports press announced this Tuesday the winners of the 2024 Provincial Sports Award, which go ‘ex aequo’ to Marta Pérez and David José Pineda. The qualifying jury, in the 52nd edition of these awards, has considered that both athletes accumulate notable merit to be recognized as the best Soria athletes of this year.

Regarding the merits acquired by the winners of the provincial award, in the case of Marta Pérez, international this year representing the Spanish team in the European Championship, World Championship and Olympic Games, at the Paris 2024 event she achieved beat the Spanish record for the 1500 meters, adding this record to the one obtained in the mile distance in the month of February in New York. For his part, David José Pineda won the silver medal in the Paralympic Games in the 400 meter dash distance in the T20 modality.

Another of the important awards this year is that of promising athlete, awarded by the brotherhood of Blood Donors of Soria, which on this occasion goes to volantista Daniela Corchón. The young badminton player has been growing for several seasons with good performance in the different competitions in which she takes part.

And the recognition for his sporting career, the 2017 Numancia award, awarded by the Soria City Council, in 2024 goes to former referee Ángel Calvo Córdoba, who despite his resume as a professional rival, has continued to be linked to football in these years. the Calasanz de Soria Sports Club.

The gala for the presentation of these awards will be next Thursday, December 5 at 8:00 p.m. at the Palacio de la Audiencia, on a day in which more than 80 other awards will also be granted to athletes, coaches, teams, clubs and related people. to the world of provincial sports and who have also stood out throughout this year or in their career. In this way, the event will bring together Spanish champions, international champions, European medalists, league champions and category promotions.
