The Filons basketball D-1 from Cégep de Thetford defeated the Blues from Dawson College 83 to 71 last weekend.
They were led on the attack by Jean-Cyrille Mbiaga who scored 37 points, the latter continued his excellent start to the season to allow his team to bring its record to .500 by virtue of three victories and as many defeats. Curiously, it was a first victory in regular time for the Filons who had won their two previous victories in overtime.
In D-2, the Filons quickly found their way to victory as they defeated the Lions of Cégep Champlain St-Lawrence 91 to 49. Inspired by Yassine Hajji who managed a 30-point performance, the Filons did not have never been threatened. Thanks to a record of four victories in five outings, Rahim Khodayar’s team remains in second place in the ranking.
And in women’s basketball, the challenge was significant for the Filons who faced a team undefeated this season while the Lions from Cégep Champlain St-Lawrence averaged nearly 80 points per game. The Thetfordois color bearers suffered a setback of 84 to 32. Kaïla Lavoie scored ten points for the Filons.
