The Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Muhammad Al-Muwalad, and his deputy, Nabih Abu Shawsa, met today with the football referees participating in the international refresher course that was held in the city of Jizan during the period from October 22 to November 3, 2024 AD.
50 referees and referee evaluators, representing the governorates of the Republic, participated in the course. They gained information about the new amendments and the method of using the mouse technology, which today has become essential in the modern game of football.
The Minister of Youth listened to an explanation from the Chairman of the Referees Committee, Ahmed Qaed, and the Committee’s Secretary, Muhammad Noman, about the conditions of the Referees Committee, its programs, and its participation in the program of this session, which came after a long period of hiatus from the referees’ qualification programs.
They explained that the course program included lectures, presenting models of arbitration cases, tests on the law and its amendments, physical exercises, positioning, movements, and making collective decisions and unifying them for the arbitration crew during matches.
The Minister of Youth and Sports stressed the importance of building the referees’ capabilities, developing their skills, and continuous training to keep pace with everything new in the world of football refereeing.
In the meeting, which was attended by Sports Sector Undersecretary Ali Hadban, he pointed out the importance of referees adhering to standards of integrity, honesty and patience, as the referee is the pitch judge who rules according to what his conscience dictates to him in accordance with the arbitration law without courtesy or favour.
The Al-Mawlid Minister pointed out that the referee must bear the opinions of the different people who may describe the referee according to the results of the sports teams they support… stressing the Ministry’s readiness, during the coming period, to hold a number of these qualifying courses for referees working in the field at all levels and to qualify new referees.
The meeting was attended by members of the Football Association, Ahmed Al-Sharafi and Abdul-Wahab Al-Zarqa, and the Federation’s director, Ahmed Al-Sahli.
