TV 05 Mainzlar won the “Big Star of Sports in Silver” at the Hesse level for its flagship project “Aktivpark Lumdatal” and was honored for it on Monday in Wiesbaden. A perhaps even greater confirmation of the club’s own work awaits in Berlin in January: a gold star.
The six winners of the “Stars of Sport in Silver” competition for Hesse have been chosen. The first winner and recipient of the “Great Star of Sports in Silver” is the sports club TV 1905 Mainzler. The two “Little Star of Sports in Silver” awards went to the sports clubs TSV Berndorf (2nd) and Spfr. Rodgau (3rd). The award winners are the three clubs: Judo Club Kim-Chi Wiesbaden, Tanzsport-Club 71 Egelsbach and Gymnastics and Singing Club Schotten.
The competition is organized by the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) and the Volks- und Raiffeisenbanken. At the state level, the cooperative association organizes the award ceremony together with the respective state sports associations.
This year’s winning clubs successfully prevailed against their competitors at the state level and were honored at a festive awards ceremony on Monday at Biebrich Castle in Wiesbaden.
The awards were presented by the Hessian Minister for Family, Seniors, Sport, Health and Care, Diana Stolz, as well as Petra Kalbhenn, representative of the cooperative banking group, and Ralf-Rainer Klatt, Vice President of Sports Development of the Hesse State Sports Association (LSB). The award ceremony was moderated by Julia Nestle (FFH).
In total, the expert jury made up of athletes, journalists and delegates from the state sports association and the sports ministry awarded prize money totaling 6,500 euros.
Sports Minister Diana Stolz said: “The ‘Stars of Sport’ honor people who work at the grassroots level of sport with their projects. It is important to honor the people who are so committed here. Through their commitment, they have an impact on our society and each one of them contributes enormous value to social cohesion. All clubs that apply for the “Stars of Sports” competition in Hesse are winners in my eyes. I would like to say my heartfelt thank you to every club for this commitment.«
Petra Kalbhenn, board member of VR Bank Main-Kinzig-Büdingen: »With the “Stars of Sports” competition, we primarily want to strengthen civic engagement and volunteerism.
LSB Vice President Ralf-Rainer Klatt emphasized: “The ‘Stars of Sport’ are more than just an award – they are a symbol of the extraordinary commitment that lies in the many small and large initiatives in club sport.”
