The Sonora Prosecutor’s Office reported on the operation that was carried out in the San Juan ejido.
Authorities achieved the arrest of two men linked to organized crime, as well as the securing of a arsenal in a makeshift camp Sáricduring a joint operation between the Secretariat of the Navy of Mexico (Semar) and the Ministerial Criminal Investigation Agency (AMIC).
The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Sonora (Fgjes) reported that the operation was carried out in the San Juan ejidowhere agents located a camp hidden in bushesbuilt with plastics and fabrics.
At the scene, they were arrested Leonel Alejandro ‘N’, 23 years oldoriginally from Magdalena de Kino, and Carlos Andrés ‘N’, 25 years oldoriginally from Mazatlán. Both men admitted belonging to a criminal group and they indicated that they worked under the orders of an individual nicknamed ‘Ponchis’.
At the camp, authorities seized an arsenal that included a .50 Barrett caliber anti-material rifle, seven AK-47 rifles, 34 7.62×39 caliber magazines, one .50 mm caliber magazine and five ballistic vests. These materials were made available to the Federal Public Ministry in the city of Caborca for analysis and for the delineation of responsibilities.
