The Citadins basketball teams played their opening match to a sold-out crowd on November 14 at the Sports Center. It was the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic that all tickets were sold for a game.
Spectators were treated to a thrilling show. The men put up a tough fight against the Bishop’s University Gaiters, but Mario Joseph’s squad ultimately lost 67-64. Steeven Beljour-Diaz was the most productive of the Citadins with 16 points and 6 rebounds.
On the women’s side, Gerry Neree’s troop lost 72-59 against the Gaiters. Élizabeth Duchemin (20 points) and Marie Bethel (15 points) had a strong match.
The Citadins’ next home games will take place on November 30 against the Rouge et Or of Laval University. The women will play at 2 p.m. and the men at 4 p.m. Tickets are on sale at Citadins website.
