The American football team Borussia Berserkers held its season opening meeting on November 17th, marking the starting signal for the exciting preparation for the debut season in 2025. Over 40 motivated players took part, including both experienced football veterans and beginners who want to rediscover the sport. The strong participation marks an important milestone for the team and shows the growing interest in American football in the Bocholt region.
Head coach Aaron Bush as well as offensive coordinator Stefan Hitpaß and defensive coordinator Peter Schaufl led the meeting and presented the Berserkers’ comprehensive plan for the 2025 season. This includes preparation games, a Super Bowl viewing party, a mini camp and position workshops with renowned guest trainers.
Coach Bush emphasized the importance of a positive environment to help players develop their skills. “Our ultimate goal is to create a supportive atmosphere where everyone feels welcome, is motivated and can grow as a player and person,” said Coach Bush.
The Berserkers presented their training plan with units that take place every Monday and Wednesday from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on the Borussia grounds. The compatibility of family, school and work is taken into account by making the training flexible. Coach Bush also promised that all players who take part in training will definitely be used in the games.
To make it easier for newcomers to get started, Borussia provides free football equipment for beginners. This includes helmets, shoulder pads, gloves, mouth guards and training jerseys. The team has made significant investments to ensure that all players are well equipped. Later, players can purchase their own equipment or purchase it from Borussia at reduced rates.
The meeting also included a tour of the state-of-the-art training and playing fields, equipment and locker rooms. The organizing team also talked about the community that is part of the team, upcoming events and the funding that the team has successfully acquired.
