Schröder and Nets win basketball thriller against Charlotte

NBA star Schröder wins with Nets against Charlotte

Dennis Schröder won a thriller against the Charlotte Hornets in the NBA with the Brookyln Nets. Thanks to a successful comeback, the German basketball world champion and his team won 116:115, and Schröder contributed 14 points to the Nets’ sixth win of the season. At one point, Brookyln was behind by 17 points, but the team showed strong nerves.

Maximilian Kleber and his Dallas Mavericks clearly won 132:91 against the New Orleans Pelicans, for whom Daniel Theis was not used. While Kleber only collected two points but at least six rebounds, top star Luka Doncic impressed once again. The Slovenian was the most successful thrower of the game with 26 points.

Meanwhile, two other star players were not used. Victor Wembanyama was missing from the San Antonio Spurs’ 110:104 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder due to knee problems. The Denver Nuggets had to do without Nikola Jokic for the third time in a row, who missed the 122:110 against the Memphis Grizzlies for personal reasons.

NBA: After 15 wins – Cleveland loses in Boston

Boston (SID) – The Cleveland Cavaliers’ winning streak at the start of the NBA professional basketball league season has broken. After 15 successes, the team suffered a 117:120 defeat at the champions Boston Celtics and thus their first defeat of the new season. The once again very strong Donovan Mitchell couldn’t prevent this with his 35 points – the record of the Golden State Warriors, who started the 2015/16 season with 24 wins, remains unmatched.

“They approached the game like a playoff game,” Cleveland coach Kenny Atkinson said. Boston was ahead of its team, especially in terms of intensity: “That’s why we were behind, we turned it up in the second half, but it was too late.”

The Cavaliers now share second place among outstanding starters. Before them, the Washington Capitols (1948/49) and the Houston Rockets (1993/94) had also achieved 15 wins at the start of the season.

Cleveland remains in first place in the Eastern Conference. Boston, which was once again able to rely on its top star Jayson Tatum (33 points, 12 rebounds), is second with three defeats and twelve wins.

“They went into the game 15-0 and felt like the best team, we felt like we were the best too,” said Tatum: “It’s about competing, we were ready.”

Draisaitl triumphs in NHL duel with Stützle

Leon Draisaitl won the German NHL duel with Tim Stützle. With his Edmonton Oilers, Draisaitl triumphed 5-2 against Stützle’s Ottawa Senators in the North American professional ice hockey league and once again demonstrated his top class: with one goal and two assists, the Cologne native was one of the most influential players on the ice.

Stützle also played well and equalized with his eighth goal of the season to make it 1-1 (16th). But Edmonton countered with two goals from Connor McDavid (17th, 20th) before Draisaitl added the fourth goal (25th). While Ottawa suffered its third defeat in a row, it was the tenth win in the 20th game for Edmonton.

Lukas Reichel lost again with the Chicago Blackhawks: The German lost 2:3 to the Anaheim Ducks. The weakest team in the Western Conference gave up two leads and Reichel remained without a goal
