The Badminton du Pays de Ploërmel is organizing the Brocéliande tournament this weekend. This will be the eleventh edition of the meeting which will welcome 235 players to the Taupont venue.
The tables promise to be less tough than in previous years due to the national tournament in Fougères being held at the same time. “There are a lot of players who will be at Fougères. Normally it takes place a weekend after us. But there was a room problem and they were forced to postpone. There was also supposed to be an Elite circuit in Cholet but it was canceled very late. We were already well advanced in terms of registrations and we were not able to accommodate more nationals,” explains Killian Roland, manager and organizer of the competition.
Rogues expected in mixed
The table is therefore rather open with around thirty Ploërmelais and still several players ranked at national level: Alban Pouessel (Trégor Badminton), Victor Capitaine (TC Carquefou), Maxence Quéré (Trégunc) and Alexandre Legoux (Fous du Volant Kervignac) . The latter will be the No. 1 seed in singles and will also be favorite in doubles alongside Arnaud Leproust (BC Vannes). The two men will have to be wary of the pair made up of Axel Abdallah, new player from Kervignac, and Igor Chavagnat (Lanester).
On the women’s side, Lou Le Penven and Charlotte Martinet (Saint-Nolff) are widely favored in the doubles. In mixed, a good fight should take place, notably between Julien Rogues (Saint-Nolff) and Océane Roux (Elven) on one side. And Ilan Iochum (Fib) associated with Romane Copin (Fib) on the other.
