The only candidate for his succession, Dsub Seydou, was re-elected as president of Côte d’Ivoire Judo (CIV Judo) with 100% of the votes cast, this Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the end of the AGM held at the Tiama Hotel.
This re-election took place in the presence of several personalities including representatives of the African Judo Union, the International Federation, the Ministry of Sports and especially General Lassana Palenfo. The current boss of UFOA Judo will therefore, for a second time in a row, lead the reins of Côte d’Ivoire Judo for the next four years. He was installed at the helm of the national body in 2020 following an election where his candidacy was requested by almost all the clubs.
The latter were not wrong. Because in 4 years, he has repositioned Ivorian judo on the international stage with the successful organization of the Abidjan Opens 2023 and 2024. Without forgetting the average of 25 medals won each year during international competitions. Moreover, at the request of the UAJ, Côte d’Ivoire will organize the Elective Congress of the African judo body and the African championships in 2025. Just after his re-election Dsub Seydou expressed his joy at being again at the head of this sporting body. “I very sincerely thank the voters who trust me for the next 4 years. I am convinced that we had a good mandate, and this re-election is the result of teamwork,” he said.
Furthermore, it should be noted that at the local level, the judo at school project has enabled the installation of around ten judo clubs in schools and within the country with a 40% increase in number of licensees. In terms of infrastructure, the women’s judo development center in northern Abidjan is under construction at the Yopougon Girls’ High School. While 6 hectares of land were acquired in Aboisso for the construction of a study and sports center, notably the judo.
