Olimpic Judo at the Italia Lombardia Trophy

The Italia Lombardia Trophy reserved for the Rookie A and B categories valid for the National Ranking List took place on Saturday and Sunday in the PalaSport in Roncadelle (BS).

On Saturday, an excellent performance by the athletes of Judo Olimpic Asti asd followed by teacher Gianni Balladelli, who won a gold and a silver and placed third in the club rankings of the women’s tournament.

In the Women’s A Beginners -52kg category, Isabella Farauanu deservedly took 1st place, clearly winning all the matches played. In the preliminary stages he won the matches played for Ippon. In the semi-final she managed to win from Waza Ari after an intense and hard-fought match which took her to the final where she won the gold medal with a splendid Ippon. Also in the -52kg category, Martina Arrighi ranked fifth: she also clearly won the matches in the preliminary stages for Ippon but was narrowly defeated in the semi-final. Unfortunately, in the final, she was defeated again.

In the Men’s Beginners B category -45kg Mario Aloise placed second. He clearly won all the matches in the elimination phase for Ippon, reaching the semi-final where he dominated the fight and won with a beautiful Ippon. In the final he faced another Piedmontese athlete on equal terms. In the Golden Score (extra time) things did not change, remaining in perfect parity. Unfortunately Aloise was defeated due to a controversial penalty (Shido) and had to settle for the Silver medal.

In the men’s -50kg category, however, Alessandro Mortara stopped in tenth place despite the victory in the preliminary stages with one of the most beautiful ippons of the day.

On Sunday, however, it was the turn of the Rookie B categories which saw Francesco Grandi involved, who clearly won the two matches of the preliminary phase for Ippon, stopping in the quarter-finals.
