BarcelonaThe Mossos d’Esquadra are investigating what happened this morning in one of the streets adjacent to the Mercat de Sants in Barcelona. Between 8.30 am and 9 am shots were heard which, according to police sources confirmed to ARA, would be from an alleged firearm.
At the moment, the police have no record of any injured people and have already opened an investigation on the ground to clarify what happened. Around eleven o’clock in the morning there were no more police officers at the scene. They have previously spoken to witnesses, collected the bullet casings (which were visible in the middle of the street) and are already checking security cameras.
Bar Nocki 6 is on the corner between Carrer Sant Jordi and Carrer Daoiz i Velarde, two roads that surround the Mercat de Sants. The waiters remember that it was a few minutes after 8:30 when they thought they heard a “firecracker”. “It was time to go to school and I saw a group of girls running,” says the owner. This made him suspicious and he walked a few more meters. In this impasse of time he heard a second detonation.
Moments later, he saw that a few meters from him there was a young man, hooded and dressed in black, who was keeping a silver metallic gun in his pocket. A few meters further he saw another man running at full speed: “He was escaping the shots”, he comments.
He was surprised by the gunman’s calmness. Walking, leisurely, he went to a scooter parked in the corner, right in front of the bar, and left. The gunman fled through Carrer d’Antoni Capmany, while the other man went up Carrer de Sant Medir.
Inside the market, which was already open, shots were heard. From the incident, there are only two helmets left near the ramp of the market car park, which the Mossos have already taken away. Now, the activity is back as if nothing had happened.
