Table tennis | The colossal stampede of the Lebrun brothers

After the resounding debut of Félix Lebrun yesterday, we were hopeful of seeing the Lebrun siblings crash against the Japanese rock, made up of Tomokazu Harimoto and Sora Matsushima. But for people like us, dreams don’t exist *in table tennis.

The Lebrun brothers are already ruining our day

And the first round rode the expected dynamic; the Lebrun brothers lost 11-6, and are only two sets lost from elimination in the first round. It would be a legendary flawless performance for Féfé in these WTT Finals. But with the French, nothing is ever simple. We would even say more, everything is complicated. After this first lost round, it was an avalanche. The Montpellier siblings won the second set (11-8), then had the last word in the third after an unbearable duel (15-13). Two rounds to one for the Lebruns, we say to ourselves that the mass is said. Even more so when the two guys lead 10-5 in the fourth, and get five match points. But it is at this precise moment that the true Lebrunian genius comes into play.

Indeed, the Lebrun brothers do not waste one, nor two, nor three, nor four, but rather five consecutive match points. And the icing on the cake, the Japanese get two. A 6-0 suffered at the best of times, but we barely have time to jump to the ceiling when the French save a set point with a mammoth defense. Since when in ping can you hit five smashes in a row 3 meters from your table and win the point behind? This is not written in the game instructions.

This qualification for the semi-finals could also be played against the French pair Dorr – Bourrassaud. Just imagine if we had to face a Franco-French match, it would be too much for our little hearts.
