Hublot’s challenge was to create an incredibly light watch using sustainable components. Known for pushing the boundaries of research and development, Hublot has managed to create not only new materials but also highly personal materials, including the 25 HEAD racquets used by Djokovic in the 2023 season and the Lacoste We developed a composite material using 17 dark blue shirts and 15 light blue shirts.

These materials have been developed and used to make the watch as lightweight as possible without compromising strength or elasticity. In many ways, the research and development process for this watch reflects Djokovic’s commitment to excellence.

The composite material that makes up the watch’s case and bezel is made of epoxy resin reinforced with quartz powder and a glass veil fused with recycled rackets and shirts. The resulting material is interspersed with blue, white and gray textile fragments, creating a unique camouflage aesthetic.

At the heart of this watch is the Unico chronograph movement, developed and manufactured in-house. However, the standard Unico movement is made of brass and had to be modified to reduce the weight of the watch. That’s why Hublot chose aluminum, which is characterized by its light weight, and anodized it in light blue or gray to match the case’s camouflage pattern. This made it possible to reduce the weight of the movement by 27%.

The Big Bang Unico Novak Djokovic also comes with four straps. The first is a Lacoste tennis wristband that can be exchanged using a one-click system. The second strap is a blue elastic strap, and this combination weighs a total of 49.5g, which is lighter than a tennis ball.
