After seeing their 15-game winning streak halted by the Boston Celtics on Tuesday, the Cleveland Cavaliers controlled their home game against the Pelicans from start to finish. Leader in the East ahead of Boston, Cleveland (16 wins, 1 defeat) resumed its run against the penultimate of the Western Conference.
Giannis Antetokounmpo had his third game with 40+ points (41) of the season in the Milwaukee Bucks’ victory against the Chicago Bulls (122-106). Alongside Antetokounmpo, Brook Lopez (21 points) and Damian Lillard (20 points) stood out as they allowed the Bucks to achieve a second victory to improve their record (6, against 9 losses) and climb to 10th place in the East.
In Memphis against the Grizzlies, Joel Embiid’s 35 points were not enough to avoid the Philadelphia 76ers’ fifth consecutive defeat (117-111). Philadelphia, which has won just two games (12 losses), remains last in the East despite its star’s best score of the season.
The New York Knicks achieved their fourth consecutive victory against the Phoenix Suns (138-122), who remain at five defeats, to move up to third place in the East standings. Jalen Brunson (36 points) and Karl-Anthony Towns (34) in evidence. At the top of the Western Conference, the Golden State Warriors dominated the Atlanta Hawks 120-97 to improve their record (11-3). Close behind, the Oklahoma City Thunder continued to pressure the Warriors with a win against the Portland Trail Blazers (109-99).
