Recognition “Volunteering with Heart” for deserving volunteers – Badminton in Meißen – Badminton department of the Verein Unit Meißen eV

On Friday, November 15th The honoring of deserving volunteers and athletes with special achievements for the city of Meißen, organized by the Meißen City Sports Association for the 24th time, took place in the cafeteria hall of Meißen University. Our active member and long-time trainer Klaus-Dieter Hahn was honored for his many years of volunteer work.

Klaus has been training the children and young people in the badminton department in Meißen for decades. To this day, he stands in the hall twice a week for 2 hours each and, alone or together with other instructors, instructs up to 20 badminton kids. On weekends he often accompanies her to tournaments and championships.

Klaus’ badminton career began in Leipzig before he came to Meißen in the early 1970s. First at Aufbau Meißen, later at TSG Meißen, then at Meißner SV 08 and since 2015 at Meißen Unit. The licensed B trainer has been taking care of the needs of Meißen’s youngest badminton talents regularly and very reliably since 1972 and is therefore a very important pillar of our sports club.

Klaus is also active himself. At this year’s state championships in Annaberg-Buchholz in February 2024, he took 1st place (!) in the men’s doubles in his age group (also 3rd place in the singles and 4th place in the mixed doubles).

Congratulations Klaus on this well-deserved award!
