The last edition, the first race on the new city circuit, fully met expectations, with an overall turnover monster and 1.5 billion dollars. The figure is so large that it has obscured the Super Bowl inducteethe most important event in the US sporting scene, again played in Las Vegas three months after the GP. The NFL title game had an economic impact from 1 billion dollarsil 33% less compared to the big motoring circus event.
According to data collected by “Sport and Finance”, the 2023 Las Vegas GP would have collected more 315,000 spectators on the stands and glued 1.3 million of television enthusiasts in the United States alone. Pay attention to the viewer data, which could be misleading: the GP was held at 1am, to make it easier for overseas fans.
Turnover in detail: per capita spending 3.6 times higher than the average
The report published by the company Las Vegas Applied Analysis recognizes a direct economic impact of the GP amounting to 329 million dollarsto which others are added 587 of indirect impact. The layout of the circuit generated 2,200 jobs for total salaries equal to 52 million dollars for the local community, while tax revenue has reached high levels 77 million.
The spectators of the Las Vegas GP made a very important contribution to the tourism sectortraditional towing of the city of Nevada. The total expenditure exceeded 500 million dollarsand every single spectator-tourist paid figures higher than the average by approximately 3.6 volte.
Expectations for the 2024 edition, with the race scheduled for Sunday 24 November (at 07.00 Italian time), are on the same line as last year, if not even higher. The ranking situation in 2023, in fact, was already defined, with Max Verstappen becoming world champion with five races to spare. Today, however, a very different GP is being held. With Verstappen at his first match-point to win the title and a Constructors’ World Championship that sees Ferrari and McLaren in close combat.
