Even during the winter break of the championships, the activity of the Itas Mutua Baseball Softball Club Rovigo does not stop. Filling the rossoblù calendar in these last few weeks are above all events and appointments of a social and educational nature. A few days after the new and very successful “Dinner in the dark” organized at the restaurant of the Hotel Cristallo in Rovigo to raise awareness on the issue of visual impairment, last weekend the Rovigo club was involved in a new sport and inclusion initiative. On the diamond of Via Vittorio Veneto, in the Tassina district, the children of the Rovigo association Uguali Different were hosted. They were welcomed by some technicians and athletes from the Baseball Softball Club Rovigo, who involved them in stimulating tests and demonstrations with gloves and baseball bats. A couple of hours of fun, socialization and sport, which will certainly be repeated in the future.
Inclusion and sport were also the great protagonists of another beautiful event organized over the weekend by the Provincial Education Office at the sports fields of San Bortolo, in Rovigo. About a hundred students from various Rovigo institutes participated in the sports promotion day. Among the disciplines they were able to experiment with, there was also baseball for the blind, proposed by the instructors of the Baseball Softball Club Rovigo: thanks to the material made available, including blindfolds and the now well-known balls “with rattles”, it was truly a surprise to experience the gaming sensations that blind people normally perceive during a baseball game. Adriatic LNG also participated in the event, which for years has supported the Under rossoblù teams but also many of the club’s social and inclusive initiatives.
In recent weeks the usual and rich school program of the Baseball Softball Club Rovigo is also coming to life. Rossoblù coaches and educators are visiting many local schools to promote baseball and softball among young students.
In the meantime, the time to say goodbye has also begun at the Tassina headquarters. Or rather goodbyes. In recent days the Cuban coaches Soto Diaz, Pino Soto and Yoel Becerra have packed their bags. They all returned to Cuba for some well-deserved rest. The Rovigo club will embrace them again at the beginning of the year to enter the heart of the new sporting season.
