The third edition of the FISU América Games took place in the city of Cali, Colombia. Agustina Pintos from Merced contributed with a gold medal for Argentina to finish in eighth place in the medal table. “I am very happy to have lived this incredible experience,” the Corrientes athlete published on her social networks.
The albiceleste delegation finished the contest organized by the International University Sports Federation of America with 32 medals: 4 gold, 13 silver and 16 bronze.
The Argentine University Sports Federation (Fedua) traveled with more than 100 members and participated in athletics, volleyball, futsal, weightlifting, swimming and judo. In addition, she was represented on the Organizing Committee by Tatiana Alonso, Inés Gómez and Flavia Barraud, due to their fundamental roles within FISU America.
During the second week of competition, the athletics team led by Diego Calvo added four medals to the final medal table of the Argentine delegation.
In one of them, Agustina Pintos won bronze with the 4×400 relay along with Verina Vezzi, Emilia Gigon and Victoria Olives. The race was won by Mexico and Costa Rica was in second place.
In the 400 meter dash, the woman from Merced came in fifth place with a time of 1:01:95. The test was won by Iris Morales Romero from Mexico. The podium was completed with María Arnaiz Cornejo (Chile) and Melanie Vargas (Costa Rica).
Pintos also participated in the 800 meter dash test where he took seventh place. The Mexican Mirian Loza Camarillo won the competition.

Argentina was eighth in the medal table, led by Brazil (60 gold medals, 106 in total), followed by Colombia and Mexico. The United States, Chile, Costa Rica and Ecuador were further behind.
