240 participants from 33 clubs: 15th BSV badminton tournament in Buxtehude

Preparations for the 15th Buxtehuder Christmas tournament on November 30th and December 1st in the South School Center, Berliner Straße 127, have been in full swing since the summer months. To mark the small anniversary, the popular tournament will feature a few innovations and surprises to further enhance the festive atmosphere in Buxtehude.

With more than 240 participants from 33 clubs, the tournament is already a complete success. All disciplines were fully booked within a very short time after registrations started.
The first discipline was completely filled on the first day after less than seven hours, and just two days later all places were taken – at this point there were still eight weeks until the start of the tournament! Among the participating clubs, some have traveled particularly long distances: SSC Karlsruhe covers 635 kilometers, while ASV Möhrendorf and BC Wildfeder Stegaurach from Franconia also travel over 500 kilometers. But many players from Hamburg, Bremen and Schleswig-Holstein as well as other regions of Germany such as Dresden and Cuxhaven are also expected.

Free entry
Visitors can look forward to exciting badminton games on ten fields. Entry is free and a large cafeteria invites you to linger with a wide range of offerings. In addition, thanks to the support of Buxtehude’s restaurants and retailers, there will be a large raffle with attractive prizes for participants.

A highlight on Saturday is the fight for the big challenge cup, which has so far been held by TuS Ottensen 93. The question will be whether the cup can stay in Buxtehude or whether it will travel again. On Sunday, the mixed tournament will be held in two classes for the first time, with the pairings still being drawn according to the Swiss system.

Colorful supporting program for the whole family
In addition to sporting highlights, there will also be entertainment: the youngest visitors can look forward to a special surprise, and there will be an exciting smash competition for the participants. More than 30 volunteers are already working to make this special event a success and to ensure that all participants and guests have an unforgettable weekend.
