Bankruptcies changed Guardiola’s opinion: Don’t let him down

Pep Guardiola actually did not expect a new contract with Manchester City. The fact that this happened and he signed until mid-2027 is due to problems in the past few weeks.
Before signing a new contract with Manchester City, Pep Guardiola expected to leave after this season for a while. “I’ll be honest, I thought this (season) would be the last,” he said. There are certain reasons why things turned out differently and that he wants to add two more seasons as City coach to his ninth season until the end of June 2027.
Given the problems of the last month, he felt that now was not the right time to leave. “I didn’t want to let the club down,” emphasized the 53-year-old Spaniard, who has been working for the club in Manchester since the summer of 2016 and his move from FC Bayern Munich: “I had the feeling that I couldn’t leave like that That’s easy. Don’t ask me why.”
By the problems, Guardiola meant a series of bankruptcies that was extremely unusual for him. Across all competitions, his team lost four games in a row. Maybe these defeats are the reason why he feels like he can’t go. “We deserve this chance to bounce back after these four defeats,” emphasized Guardiola.
Between the right answer and the greatest challenge
“Pep Guardiola’s new contract is the perfect answer to Manchester City losing four games in a row for the first time under him,” wrote the Mirror. Guardiola, the godfather among coaches, is facing his biggest challenge to date at Man City, said the “Independent” with a view to rebuilding the team.
If Guardiola fulfills his new contract, he will have coached Manchester City for eleven years. As of now, his balance sheet is already highly impressive. He won the English championship six times with the club, and last season he achieved his fourth triumph in a row. The highlight so far was the 2022/23 season, when City won the FA Cup and the Champions League in addition to the championship. Of the 490 competitive games under him, City won 353.
