Verbicaro, arrest ordered flagrantly for the mechanic Biagio Lofrano, alleged perpetrator of the murder of Ugo Lofrano
Verbicaro, 21 November 2024 – Biagio Lofrano, the 41-year-old from Verbicaro who is the author and self-confessed of the serious bloody incident that took place yesterday in the afternoon, around 6.00 pm, in his uncle’s workshop, in via Manzoni, in the mountain center of the Tyrrhenian Sea, is accused of multi-aggravated murder Cosenza; after the formalities, the man was arrested and associated with the Paola prison at the disposal of the Paola prosecutor’s office.
He waited for the police to arrive
It could have been an impulse reaction due to a discussion that took place inside the workshop to “arm” the hand of the mechanic who hit the uncle on the head with a drive shaft. And, from what has been learned, after the murder, Biagio Lofrano would have informed his relatives about what had happened, revealing that he had committed a horrible act and killed his uncle Ugo Lofrano, 74 years old, brother of the murderer’s father. The suspect awaited the arrival of the carabinieri, in some way admitting his responsibilities and providing, with the defense guarantees, statements compatible with the accusatory system collected up until then by the carabinieri of the Scalea company and the local station.
Rapid investigations
A rapid investigation into the serious blood crime. The dispute would have arisen for trivial reasons attributable to disagreements that arose in the workplace, from what is said in the village the uncle would have handed over the business to his nephew. The victim, not being married, had placed all her hopes of keeping the workshop business alive on her youngest nephew. The latter is described as a very taciturn person.
The crime scene
When the police arrived, the victim was found lying on the ground, among the cars being repaired, and had several head injuries caused by a blunt object; it was learned that it was probably a driveshaft. And just a few meters away from the body the alleged murder weapon was found with visible traces of blood. The mechanical piece was seized pending further investigations. The inspection was carried out by the Carabinieri of the investigative unit of the operational department of the provincial command of Cosenza who froze the crime scene and found several traces useful for the investigation. Ugo Lofrano’s body was seized for an autopsy ordered by the public prosecutor on duty.
