NFL | Nick Chubb gives Browns victory in the snow

(Cleveland) Nick Chubb scored a two-yard rushing touchdown through heavy snow with 57 seconds left, and the Cleveland Browns upset the Pittsburgh Steelers 24-19 Thursday night, ending the streak of five victories of their sectional rivals.

Chubb’s touchdown came in his first game against the North Division-leading Steelers (8-3) since the running back suffered a season-ending left knee injury during a race last year in Pittsburgh.

The Browns (3-8) had blown a 12-point lead in the fourth quarter and trailed 19-18 before getting the ball back with 3:22 left after Steelers kicker Corliss Waitman fumbled his punt, which ended ‘only covered 16 yards.

As snow accumulated and covered the field yard lines, Browns quarterback Jameis Winston completed a pass to Jerry Jeudy to the Steelers nine-yard line on a third down. Two plays later, Chubb rushed into the end zone.

The Steelers had one last chance, but quarterback Russell Wilson’s long pass on the final play was stopped by Browns defensive player Grant Delpit in the end zone, sparking a wild celebration at Huntington Bank Field.

In the midst of a disastrous season, beating the Steelers took some pressure off head coach Kevin Stefanski and gave Browns fans something to savor.
