*Italian Absolute and Para Badminton Championships 2024 Among the first big matches and
some outsiders, the main favorites advance*
*The emotions have begun at the Palazzetto dello Sport in Chiari, which already has
delivered some fundamental verdicts in view of the awarding of titles
in badminton. *
*In the men’s singles, everything followed the expected course, with the first ones
big match scheduled for tomorrow, starting from the round of 16. There
number 1 seed, Nicolò Volpi (Brescia Sport Più), will face Luca
Zhou (ASV Mals), while the Italians Fabio Caponio (CS Aeronautica Militare)
and Enrico Baroni (GSA Chiari) will compete against each other. Finally, Alessandro
Gozzini (GSA Chiari) will face Lukas Osele (ASV Mals), who today has
had to fight until the third set (21-12; 16-21; 21-18) to overcome Alessio
Catalfamo (Le Saette). *
*In the women’s singles, in what could have been the final
early, Yasmine Hamza (SSV Bozen) won in three sets (21-15; 21-23;
21-9) Judith Mair (ASV Mals), seeded number 1. Tomorrow Hamza will try
to reach another final, which could give her her fourth title,
with Gianna Stiglich (GS Fiamme Oro) among the main opponents.*
*In the mixed doubles, the big shot was scored by two couples from
BC Milan: Gianmarco Bailetti and Emma Piccinin, and Luca Bellazzi and Camilla
Taramelli. The first couple defeated Alessandro in two sets (21-8; 21-17).
Gozzini and Martina Moretti (GSA Chiari), seeded number 3/4, while
the second duo prevailed over David Spitaler and Melanie Streiter (ASV
Uberetsch) in three sets (21-13; 19-21; 21-10).*
